Faces of Ortus: Meet Danielle!

2021 was a cracking year for Ortus and 2022 is already promising to follow suit… but cranked up a notch! We’ve kicked off the new year with another new face that we’re chuffed to introduce you to. Danielle Ward joined Ortus last week as our new Senior Paid Social Manager so, naturally, we thought we’d fire a mini grillin’ her way so you can learn a little more about her…

1. What attracted you to working for Ortus?
The company itself seems like a really great place to work, the people, the whole vibe is good. Of course there’s the progression opportunities too… that’s a biggie for me, to be able to grow and be better at my job. Ortus will help me do that.

2. What’s the main focus for your new role here?
My role is to come and support Charlotte the Paid Social Exec, and help get results for our clients, but also to help bring in new business and support Sarah in that way. Very exciting!

3. Tell us a little bit about your background in social media.

I first started my journey back at another agency in Teesside where I first met Sarah, Jess and Becky. I’ve been in the Social Media Marketing game for around 6-7 years now, working with a wide range of clients doing both paid social and organic. I love it.

4. Favourite thing about social?

Being able to get a brand results using social is such a great feeling. It’s constantly changing and evolving which is so exciting, so you have to be constantly learning!

5. Biggest social media pet peeve?
Probably the above, it’s always evolving 😂 So. Many. updates. Bitter sweet.

6. If you could manage social platforms for any brand, who would it be?
Poosh, ASOS, Cult Beauty… I do love fashion, home and lifestyle type clients.

7. What brand’s social channels are the ultimate inspo for you?
Never Fully Dressed, they absolutely smash it.

8. POV: You’re off work. What would we find you doing?

Spending time with my little boy, Ezra. I do usually try to get at least two nights a week in doing PT/gym or going for walks but sometimes wine and cheese… and parenting life, just get in the way 🤷🏼‍♀️

9. Just for fun, what were you doing on 20/5/20 while our PM was partying?

Nothing exciting… not like Boz and his mates. I was working at home, picked Ez up from school and went to the gym.

10. Any predictions for social media in 2022? What should our clients be looking out for?

Content is KING. Brands must be prepared to get creative. Invest in quality and entertaining content. Consumers are so much more aware of ads, we really need to resonate with them, entertain them, make them feel some sort of emotion with the content we’re putting in front of them.

Expect big things from our social offering this year as we knuckle down to level up. Connect with Danielle on LinkedIn here.
